Re: PP - Platonism vs. Naturalism - A Lecture by Lloyd Gerson

Bump. I think I'm going to get this series going again.

It is precisely “values” that are the powerless and threadbare mask of the objectification of beings, an objectification that has become flat and devoid of background. No one dies for mere values.

Re: PP - Platonism vs. Naturalism - A Lecture by Lloyd Gerson

Here is a discussion of the Moving Naturalism Forward conference in Andrew Ferguson's review of the controversy around Thomas Nagel's 2012 book  Mind and Cosmos:  Why the Materialist Neo-Darwinian Conception of Nature Is Almost Certainly False .

(I had discovered that Gerson lecture in around January this year and listened to it several times. I particularly liked the discussion of De Anima, 'if materialism were true, you literally could not think, because thinking is a universalising activity'. I try that line of argument on the Philosophy Forum and almost nobody understands it.)
