Do people think it is possible to derive:
1b. X is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnibenevolent
From
1a. X is a purely simple substance*
*I know strictly speaking Thomists don’t care to call God a substance but I'm using that term here loosely to rule out side issues with Tropes
And more controversially
1a. X is a purely simple substance
From
1b. X is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnibenevolent
The latter route if successful essentially rules out most forms of Theistic Personalism. I don’t think it’s too difficult to argue for if one accepts the Act/Potency distention though I would be interested to hear if people have any other intuitions as to how one might do it.
Thoughts anyone
