Speaking of the POE, J.L Mackie formulates his "logical POE" but he also denies that there is such thing as objective morality or values.  How does he reconcile this? Does he address this seeming contradiction somewhere?

Well, as far as I know I don't see how we can stop this massive spread of caricatures. Even if you do reply to the GNU types that they are wrong there is always a chance that more GNUs will troll and spread more misinformation. Perhaps we can at least provide the accurate information and hopefully the sincere-seekers will distinguish truth from falsity. Also, have you read about the conversion story of the Raving Atheist? Perhaps his conversion can help on how to approach GNUs.

I suggest you shouldn't waste your time with militant atheists who are not willing to listen to other people's viewpoints. My suggesting would be to look for sincere truth-seeking atheists, agnostics, etc and read more sophisticated atheists like Mackie, Smith, Oppy, Schellenberg, Flew (Obviously, his earlier work), Rowe, etc.

Hmmmm what about Dietrich Von Hildebrand?

Theoretical Philosophy » Critics of Natural Theology » 8/08/2015 7:07 pm

I think Graham Oppy, Quentin Smith, and J.L. Schellenberg are crucial critics of Natural Theology or religion to date. Nevertheless, there are many other critics out there such as Evan Fales, Michael Martin, Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, Stephen Law, Kai Nielsen, etc.

Hi everybody! I was wondering about the infamous "problem" of divine hiddeness. What are your responses or thoughts about this "problem"?

What do Gale or Guleserian mean by "evil"? Also, in what sense do they mean all-good, all-powerful, all-knowing, etc.? Analogous, univocal?

Theoretical Philosophy » Atheism entails naturalism? » 7/29/2015 8:48 pm

I see. Well, thanks for your response!

Theoretical Philosophy » Atheism entails naturalism? » 7/28/2015 3:49 pm

I wondered if atheism entails naturalism, and I thought about this way:
atheism iff naturalism
I think Naturalism => atheism is obviously true. When I formulated
Atheism => Naturalism, I thought this may not be true. However,
I thought about "How man came to be" question and if God doesn't exist then how did man came to be? What other alternatives does the atheist have? Besides the naturalistic explanation.
I would really apprecaite anybodys thoughts!

"he manages to be relatively civil in his published debate with Moreland though."
Yes, sometimes Nielsen doesn't get emotional for example in his debate with Dr. Craig and his article "Why should I be Moral?" He doesn't get as bad as A.C. Grayling.
"The ideology which is the centre of this stupid modern rhetoric is not Atheism merely as an ontological position but the ill-thought out, uber-emotive drivel which calls itself ‘Secular Humanism’ "
Yeah, Kitcher defends Secular Humanism in his book "Life after Faith" but he never really gave an argument for Secular Humanism. Instead, some parts of the book, he says on how it is "humane" and we should "refine religion." (rolls eyes) I thought the book was more emotional than rational.
